The event held at Castlemaine over 4 days (29th of September to 2nd October 2016) was a great success with many players providing excellent badminton matches for the spectators. Fantastic performances from the likes of Tracey Middleton, Erin Parkes, Paul Freemen, Lawrence Nemestothy & Shaun Parr but the stars of the show were Rory Easton & Gemma Whiting. Rory & Gemma won all the events between them. Rory took Men’s singles, doubles and Mixed, whilst Gemma took Women’s singles, doubles and runner up in the mixed! Well done to all who played.

Kent 1st Team results click

The 1st team continued in there wining ways at the play-off’s wining all 3 matches against some tough competition, the weekend started well with a 9-2 win over Lancashire 2. In the afternoon Kent played Dorset who had just lost to Staffordshire in the morning, this was a much tougher game and it went to the last game with Kent emerging with a 6-5 win. Sunday morning and with several players battling with illness and injury niggles the team had another hard game, this time it was Staffordshire who had won both games on Saturday as well, so this was going to be tough as Staffordshire also had a 1 point advantage over us. The match was decided in the first mixed and Kent took another 6-5 victory to end the weekend with a clean sheet.

The team all played well, with great team spirit, all supporting each other throughout the weekend, it was a pleasure to spend the weekend with them all and I hope they will continue the wining ways next season.
