Kent’s junior players had a successful year at Badminton
England’s age group tournaments. Sixty-five Kent-based
juniors entered BE’s tournaments with thirty-six achieving a
BE Grading. Ten of our juniors were awarded Grades 1 or 2.
Congratulations to all these players, their coaches, and of
course, their parents.
KENT BADMINTON LIMITED
Following the 2011 AGM the following were elected - Chairman Mike O'Keeffe, Directors Rosalie Reeder, Debbie Leach, Allan Paxton, Bill Dorey, Eddie Strilesky, Steve Hall, Robin Wells. The Directors have agreed a Business Plan which will form the framework for performance and delivery for the year ahead.
INTER REGIONAL COMPETITION
The question is should players play twice for a club in the League before they can represent that league at the Inter Regional Tournament? This should be discussed at League Committee Meetings. If readers have a view give it to one of your own League committee members by 13 January 2011.

Tournaments run by Leagues in Kent are normally all open to
all players in Kent. In future all entry forms will be sent
to Regional League secretaries and also to all members of
the Kent District League committee for distribution. A
Tournament Calendar is maintained by Dave Gardner (from
North Foreland).
What do Members want from Kent Badminton Ltd?
This question was put to the Kent District League
Committee which is formed from representatives of Regional
Committees i.e. Medway, North Foreland, Orpington etc. The views so far are:
(a) Clubs need more players;
(b) Clubs would like to benefit from
bulk purchasing schemes such as shuttles, equipment, shoes;
(c) free coaching.
This will be asked again. Please give your League Committee people your views.
What the Leagues in Kent are doing - Best Practice
(a) Chairman of all clubs asked to be involved in all decisions on fielding 2 pairs, support for the League AGM, the Presentation Evening and Competitions
(b) One League give financial assistance to clubs for launching club websites, junior entries and Hall hire.
(c) Each committee member of one League has agreed to get in touch by phoning 3 allotted clubs 3 times a season to get feedback and views.
(d) One League runs an over 50s division which is handicapped
(e) One League allows ladies to play in a men’s division and also permits a match to be played with 4 players in each team proving both clubs agree
(f) One League is still using the old scoring system
(g) One league is considering a rule amendment to
include fair play, code of conduct and sanctions.
